William Howard Drake, age 90, formerly of Transfer, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 2026, in St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.
He was born in Volant on July 31, 1935 to Clarence “Skip” and Vera (Stitt) Drake. Bill graduated from East Brook High School, New Castle in 1953 and served in the U. S. Army Infantry from 1957 – 1959, stationed in Germany. Bill had been self-employed as a dairy farmer in Pymatuning Township since 1971 and previously had been employed as a truck driver for Agway Energy of Mercer for eight years and for Howe Coffee Co. of Grove City for eight years.
He was a member of Faith Community Church, Hermitage where he served as a trustee and a former member of Leesburg Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee and elder. Bill also was a member of F & AM #603, Grove City, the New Castle Consistory, and the Mercer County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed attending weekly auctions.
On March 16, 1962, Bill married the former Grace E. Love; she passed away June 26, 2012.
He is survived by a daughter, Brenda K. (Patrick) Liszka of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Kaitlin & Jason Liszka.
In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William B. Drake; a sister, Barbara Cummings; and a grandson, Steven Liszka.
The family wishes to thank the staff at The Heritage at St. Paul’s for their compassionate care of Bill.
Services:
A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 PM Monday, 2/16/26, in Faith Community Church, 2370 N. Hermitage Rd., Hermitage, with Rev. Anthony Kladitis, Pastor of the Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received in the Church on 2/16/26 from 3:30 PM until time of Service. Inurnment will be in Leesburg Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 288 Main St. Greenville, PA 16125.
