Thomas G. Bresnan, age 85, of Chestnut St., W. Salem Twp., Greenville, passed away Sunday morning, January 18, 2026, in UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Greenville on September 24, 1940 to Paul and Mary (Marquis) Bresnan and grew up and lived in the Village of Shenango. Tom was a 1959 graduate of St. Michael’s High School. He was employed by the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad as an Engineer and retired in 1990.
Tom loved to hunt and fish and spend time at his various camps in the mountains with numerous friends and all his kids’ buddies. In addition, he and his wife Becky loved to spend time at auctions, yard sales, flea markets, and traveling the country with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Ron Malson. Tom also enjoyed running day and night “chasing the daily books” at all the clubs including Reynolds VFW Post #7599, Greenville VFW Post #3374, The Italian Home Club, Greenville Moose Family Center #276, F. O. E. #805, Jamestown Firemen’s Club, Hartstown Pump House #45, and making his rounds at the Adams Hotel. Anyone who knew Tom knew he loved his family and many friends. If you got to know him or had the opportunity to meet him, you know that Tom (“Pups,” “Uncle Tom,” “Captain Tom”) enjoyed being “the life of the party.” He was blessed with a wonderful, fun-filled life enjoying his 35 years of retirement.
On October 21, 1967, Tom married the former Rebecca L. Taylor; she passed away January 4, 2017.
Tom is survived by three children: Jeff (Paula) Bresnan of the Village of Shenango, Amy (Mike) Milliken of California, and David Reimold of Transfer; a brother, Bill (Roberta) Bresnan of the Village of Shenango; a sister, Polly Bukta of Iowa; eight grandchildren: Derek Reimold, Cassandra Reimold, Brooke (Kegan) Miller, Hunter Bresnan, Chloe Milliken, Van Milliken, Zac (Michaela) Olexa, and Taylor Olexa; five great grandchildren: Knox Miller, Kruz Miller, Raelynn Olexa, Sophia Reimold, and Cameron Reimold
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Dick, Dave, Ed, and John Bresnan; and a sister, Ann Moyer.
Services:
Family and Friends will be received from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, 1/23/26, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville. Memorial Contributions may be made to West Salem Volunteer Fire Department, 625 Vernon Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.
