Shirley J. "Maggie" Patton

Shirley J. “Maggie” Patton, age 67, of Rock Hill, SC, and formerly of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, June 28, 2025, in the Emergency Room of UPMC Horizon Greenville.

She was born in Greenville on February 21, 1958 to Vernon and Betty (Davis) Johnston and was a 1976 graduate of Reynolds High School. Shirley had been employed for more than 20 years in the Housekeeping Department at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.

She enjoyed time with her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters and had unconditional love for them. Shirley loved spending time with her family, traveling, and planning girls’ day parties with her sisters, nieces, and friends. She also enjoyed making crafts and sewing, ghost hunting, and thought she would have been a great private investigator if given the opportunity to start over.

On August 19, 1978, she married Roger A. Patton; he passed away November 14, 2020.

Shirley is survived by a son, Tom (Jennifer) Patton of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Betty Adams of Brookfield, OH and Patricia (Timothy) McGhee of Greenville; and two granddaughters, Kylee and Caroline Patton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Daisy Smolnik; and three brothers: Vernon Jr., Bobby, and George Johnston.

Services:

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, 7/17/25, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville. Family and friends will be received in the Funeral Home on 7/17/25 from 6:00 PM until time of service.
