Sally Jane (Whaley) Werlinich of Greenville, PA, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, just days shy of celebrating her 94th birthday. A woman of immense warmth and unwavering kindness, Sally’s life was defined by the deep bonds of family and a spirit of selfless devotion.
She is survived by her brother, whom she loved dearly, Dr. Robert (Jay) Whaley and his wife, Sallie of Palo Alto, CA, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories and mutual affection.
The true cornerstone of Sally’s world was her four children, to whom she devoted her entire life with boundless love and guidance. Her legacy of maternal care lives on through Amy (David) Devenzio of Pine Township; Sheri Benson of Gray, GA; Joseph (Lori) Werlinich of Fountain Valley, CA; and Kathy (Michael) Latorre of Slippery Rock.
Sally’s warmth extended through the generations as the loving grandmother to ten grandchildren: Emily (Matthew) Alloway of Mt. Lebanon; Crystal (Luke) Andrews of Wolf Creek, MT; Benjamin Benson of St. Paul, MN; Rachel (Matthew) Goodson of Gray, GA; Keri Werlinich of Washington, DC; Ashley Werlinich of Pittsburgh; Lora (Jon) Colarusso of Pine Township; Courtney (Sean) Okonsky of Ellicott City, MD; Rebecca (DJ Hug) Devenzio of Cleveland, OH; and Zachary (Bryn) Latorre of Slippery Rock— and her ten great-grandchildren; Ania, Marek, and Callum Alloway; Nolan Andrews; Abraham Goodson; Forbes and Franco Colarusso; Silas and Olive Okonsky; and Haze Latorre. Sally was also a dear aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Full of joy and quick to laugh, Sally brought warmth and happiness to everyone she met. She was a wonderful cook who had a special gift for bringing family together around the dinner table. From casual family gatherings, graduations celebrations, or weddings, the memories shared at her beloved house on Plum Street will always be cherished as favorites by all who knew her.
Her family will remember her as a steady anchor and a source of unconditional support, a woman whose greatest achievement was the happiness and unity of those she held dear. She leaves behind a vivacious family tree rooted in the love she cultivated for nearly 94 years.
