Roger G. Johnson

January 2, 1943 — January 10, 2025

Greenville, PA

Roger Johnson, 82, passed away January 10, 2025 at his residence in Greenville after a brief illness.

He was born January 2, 1943 in Erie, PA, the son of Charles and Anita Johnson. He married Margaret “Peg” Cipalla on Sept. 3, 1966. She survives at home.

Roger graduated from Lawrence Park High School in 1960 and attended Gannon University.

He began work in 1973 at the former R. D. Werner Co. in Greenville and worked in sales as a senior estimator there until his retirement in 2002.

Roger always had a positive and appreciative outlook and an understated sense of humor, no matter the situation, and easily made friends. His life was marked by dignity, simplicity, consistency, and humility. He stewarded well all in his care: whether his people, profession, yard, or possessions. Most important to him was ensuring that his family was well cared for. He was known as a loyal and dedicated friend, father, brother, and husband and was always ready and willing to pour out as much love and comfort as the family could take.

Representative of his giving nature was volunteering with various programs with the Greenville Elks, especially helping set pins for the weekly bowling program for local students.

In his retirement, he enjoyed golf, especially time with his friends in the “Old Timers’ Golf League” at Pine Hill Golf Course; watching his favorite shows; taking care of the yard; going for drives; and spending time with his family, including regular breakfasts and annual family vacations: He took deep satisfaction in simple pleasures.

Roger is survived by three children, Greg (Amy) Johnson of Farmdale, Ohio; Kristin (Dave) Fisher of Greenville; and Gary (Regina) Johnson of Meadville; grandchildren Emma and Noah Fisher; Zoe, Grace, Edie, Sammi and Shreve Johnson; and Collin Loucks; brother-in-law Al Tylman, and many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Tylman.
