Robert W. Whiteside

Robert W. Whiteside, age 91, of Lyle Dr., Hermitage and formerly of Greenville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2025, in UPMC Shenango Valley.

He was born in Greenville on May 10, 1934 to Ollie and Geneva (Tolliver) Whiteside and attended Penn High School. Bob served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Reynolds Building Systems following 10 years of employment as a truck driver and laborer and previously had been employed for 20 years in the machine shop of Westinghouse Electric Corp., Sharon.

Bob was an outstanding, self-taught jazz piano player and enjoyed classic cars.

He is survived by a son, Robert (Patricia) Whiteside of Hermitage and a grandson, William E. Whiteside, also of Hermitage.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Esther Basham; and four brothers: Claude, Enoch, John, and Fred Whiteside.

Services:

Family and friends will be received from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, 7/15/25, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville. Military Honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the visitation. Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery.
