Robert Sutherland Ohr, age 63, of Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack on Saturday evening, February 21, 2026, in the ER of UPMC Horizon, Greenville.
He was born in Morristown, NJ on December 18, 1962 to Richard Albert and Mary (Sutherland) Ohr. Bob was a 1980 graduate of Madison High School and a 1984 graduate of Thiel College where he completed his B. A. in History and was a member and past president of the Phi Theta Phi fraternity. He retired as Tax Collector for Hempfield Twp. and previously had been employed as a Title Searcher for Marcellus Shale, a Claims Adjuster at R. D. Werner Co., and with the U. S. Secret Service in Washington, D. C.
Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville and a past member of the Greenville Area School District Board of School Directors. He also was a member of B. P. O. E. #145 where he assisted with the Friday Bowling program. Additionally, Bob volunteered with Christian Fitness Ministries packing backpacks for local students. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Cleveland Guardians, Cleveland Browns, NY Giants, and NY Mets. Bob also was a devoted Penn State Football fan. He and his family recently traveled to London to watch the Cleveland Browns play. They also traveled to Goodyear, AZ to watch the Guardians during spring training. Bob was a history buff. He loved returning to his childhood beach house in Bay Head, NJ where many summers were spent with family and friends. Most of all, Bob treasured time with his family.
On October 12, 1985, he married the former Kim Hittle; she survives.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by three daughters: Lauren, Megan, and Kendall; a granddaughter, Lennon; a brother, Richard Ohr and his wife, Karina; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Todd and Kelly Hittle; three nephews: Andy Ohr, Dan Ohr, and Josh Hittle; a niece, Jaci Hittle; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Connie Hittle and Fred and Bev Kiser; his furry pals: “Poppi,” “Bailey,” “Bea,” and “Lexi;” and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services:
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, 2/26/26, in Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, Greenville, with Rev. Steven Craft, Pastor of the Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, 2/25/26, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville. B. P. O. E. #145 will conduct an Elks Remembrance Service at the conclusion of the visitation. Memorial Contributions may be made to Strayhaven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Rd. Greenville, PA 16125.
