Robert Thomas Becker of Greenville PA, originally Pittsburgh, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, of natural causes.
Bob was born on December 17, 1932, to Edward and Mary Becker in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the Navy and saw action in the Korean conflict. After leaving the Navy, Bob started working at Bell Telephone, which led to a 35-year career in the telecommunications industry.
He grew up not far from his future wife, Kathleen Sughrue. Although they knew each other in high school, it wasn’t until Bob got out of the Navy in 1955 that a chance encounter on the street sparked a romance that led to their marriage on August 3, 1957. Bob and Kathy went on to have 4 children, which led to 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
After retirement, Bob and Kathy spent much of their time at their cabin at Lake Pymatuning, the site of many summer family gatherings. For many years, they wintered in Florida, spending time golfing, boating, and fishing. Bob also loved making stain glass artwork and giving them to his family and friends. He was especially proud of a stained-glass window that he donated to the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh in 1987, which can still be seen today in the octagonal window at the corner of Exchange Way. Some of Bob’s work can also be seen at St Paul Homes.
Bob was a dedicated husband to Kathy and a loving father to his children. He was also known to be a kind friend to all who knew him and never hesitated to help anyone who needed it. He was a skilled handyman, making many improvements not only to his own home, but also spent countless hours helping his children as they became homeowners. His selfless devotion to others will always be remembered.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Becker, his brothers Ed and Jim, his sister Virginia, his wife Kathy and his son Michael. He is survived by his children Robert Becker (Priscilla), Daniel Becker (Kathleen), Cynthia Benestelli (David), and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Becker. His grandchildren Jordan, Cameron, Brennan, Stephanie, Jessica, Amy, Brandon, Brian, and Eric and great grandchildren Teagan, Joey, Jake, Rosy, Ava, Dylan, and Adam.
