Richard H. Miller, age 93, of Mercer Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Tuesday morning, September 11, 2024, in The Grove at Greenville.
He was born on August 29, 1931 in Greenville to Ernest W. and Bessie (Van Dyke) Miller. Richard graduated from Penn High School in 1950. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army 7th Division from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. Richard was the owner/operator of R. H. Miller TV in Greenville for 10 years and also owned and operated R. H. Miller Custom Oak in Greenville for 30 years. He was previously employed for 20 years in the copper shop at Westinghouse Electric Corp, Sharon.
Richard was an active member of Hillside Presbyterian Church, Greenville where he served as an elder, deacon, and trustee, taught the Sunshine Class for 60 years, sang in the choir for 65 years. He considered the church family as his second family. Richard also enjoyed singing in a barbershop quartet for many years.
He married the former Martha G. McCullough on August 2, 1962; she survives.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Christopher) Collins of Hermitage; a son, Steven (Christina) Miller of Little River, SC; a brother, John C. Miller, of Greenville; and four grandchildren: Tia Collins, Deanna Miller, Ethan Collins and Matthew Miller.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Miller.
Services:
A Memorial Service at Hillside Presbyterian Church, 2 N. High St., Greenville, is being planned by Richard’s family and will be announced at a later date.
