Patricia G. Houpt, age 93, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024, in St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.
She was born in Howard, PA on December 31, 1930 to William M. and Ethel P. (Leathers) Gates. Pat was a graduate of Howard High School and Thiel College. She was a Homemaker and had been employed for eight years as a Research Assistant at Thiel College.
Pat was a member of Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ Greenville, where she had sung in the choir and was active with the Women of Zion’s. In addition, she had served on the Greenville Public Library Board of Directors and The Colony Council at St. Paul’s and was a member of the Thiel College Women’s and Fortnightly clubs. Pat enjoyed antiquing, gardening, spending time with her family, and especially attending and supporting her grandchildren’s sporting events.
On January 21, 1950 she married Richard S. Houpt; he preceded her in death on November 30, 2009.
Survivors include a son, Andrew Houpt (Lisa Blaney) of Greenville; a daughter, Debra Washington (John) of Greenville; two daughters-in-law: Ellen Houpt of Bayfield, CO and Stephanie Houpt of Henderson, NV; three grandchildren, Shaman Houpt, Nathan Houpt, and Lucas Houpt; and three great-grandchildren, Jude Houpt, Taj Houpt, and Lilly Houpt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons: R. Michael Houpt and Douglas Houpt; five sisters: Virginia Schneider, Fay Gates, Betty Kellerman, Ruth Graffius, and Lois Boll; a brother, Richard Gates; and two grandchildren, Isis Houpt and Joachim Houpt.
Services:
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in the chapel of Zion’s Reformed U.C.C. 260 Main St. Greenville, with Rev. Steven Craft, Pastor of the church, officiating.
