Nancy J. Banic, age 95, of Lincoln Ave., Greenville passed away peacefully with her family at her side Monday afternoon, December 22, 2025.
She was born on September 12, 1930 in Greenville to Clarence L. and Carrie (Rankin) Seyler. Nancy was a 1948 graduate of Penn High School, was a lifelong homemaker, and waitressed for many years at the Blue Sky Inn and Duffy’s Tavern.
She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville where she had previously volunteered in the Rectory. Nancy was a member of the Women’s Card Players Club in Greenville for over 50 years and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus Bowling League. She enjoyed Polka dancing for many years with her late husband.
On April 20, 1950, she married Stephen W. Banic, Sr.; he passed away August 7, 2021.
Nancy is survived by a daughter, Cecilia A. (Merle) McClimans of Jamestown; three sons, Stephen W. (Cheryl) Banic of Greenville, Michael Banic of Jamestown, and Douglas P. Banic of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, 12/29/25, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St. Greenville, with Fr. Thomas N. Trocchio, Pastor of the Church, as Celebrant. A Private Family Viewing will be held. Inurnment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery Columbarium. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church.
