Margaret R. "Peg" Johnson

Margaret R. “Peg” Johnson, 81, passed away Saturday morning, August 29, 2026, at her residence in Greenville after a brief illness.

She was born January 4, 1945 in Erie, PA, the daughter of Sam and Mae Cipalla. She married Roger Johnson on September 3, 1966. He preceded her in death in 2025.

Peg graduated from Lawrence Park High School in 1962 and graduated from Villa Maria College in 1966.

She began her teaching career in 1980 at Greenville Area Senior High School and continued instruction in business and computer courses there until her retirement in 2003.

Peg was not one who tolerated frivolity but reveled in good humor and smart discussions, and she had a fierce intellect. She was loved by her family and friends for her leadership, care, generosity and progressive outlook. She was beloved by her students as a tough - but fair and encouraging - educator.

She always saw the potential in both her own children and her student “kids,” and made clear her expectation that they would work for it, as well as her unending support in helping them to achieve it.

In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, reading, participating in book and essay clubs, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed and valued education, learning, compassion and seriousness in one’s beliefs and actions.

Peg is survived by three children, Greg (Amy) Johnson of Farmdale, Ohio; Kristin (Dave) Fisher of Greenville; and Gary (Regina) Johnson of Meadville; grandchildren Emma and Noah Fisher; Zoe, Grace, Edie, Sammi and Shreve Johnson; and Collin Loucks; sisters Mary Schriefer, Jane Franz and Betty Cipalla; a dear aunt Rose Marie (Babe) Chilcott; and many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Cipalla.

All arrangements are private. Inurnment will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville. Memorial Contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1119 Park Avenue Suite 7 Meadville, PA 16335.
