Kenneth L. “Lee” Hawthorne, age 80, of Greenville, PA, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026 following a brief illness, with his loving family by his side.
Lee was born in Greenville on December 7, 1945 to the late James and Betty Hawthorne. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended Commodore Perry High School and then began working at Steel Car, later dedicating the remainder of his successful career to Kirila Contracting.
In his younger years, he was known for pulling trucks and tractors at the local fairs and winning a PA Championship once. An avid outdoorsman, Lee found great joy in farming, fishing, and hunting. His favorite sanctuary was his hunting camp in DuBois where he created countless lasting memories with his family and closest friends. Closer to home, he enjoyed unwinding at the Greenville VFW, sharing stories and a Miller Lite with his buddies.
On May 29, 2018, Lee married the former Lisa Taylor-Frantz. Together, they shared years of happiness, enjoying quiet moments at camp, fishing trips with friends, and lively games of Euchre.
Lee considered his family his greatest blessing. He took immense pride in raising his three children, and over the years, they bonded deeply over wrestling matches, hunting trips, playing cards, and watching his family expand with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife Lisa Hawthorne; two sons, Kirk (Jennifer) Hawthorne and Hayden (Becca) Hawthorne, both of Greenville; his daughter, Shaina (Bryan) Lipchinsky of Monongahela; two stepdaughters, Tiffani Frantz of Greenville and Megan DeMoss; his cherished grandchildren, Dillon Hawthorne (fiancé Kayhlee Butler), Madison Hawthorne, and Haylee Hawthorne; his granddaughters, Brielle, Brooklyn, and Madelyn Lipchinsky; and his step-grandchildren, Lily and Emma DeMoss, and Colton Stephens. He also leaves behind his sister, Della (Rich) LaMantia of Tucson, AZ; and his step-brothers, Bob (Patty) Baker, Chuck (Linda) Baker, and Pat Baker.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, James (Shirley) Hawthorne and Betty Hawthorne, as well as his former wife, Nancy McDade-Hawthorne and nephew Greg Harris.
