Joseph L. DiFede, age 75, of Clarksville St., Greenville passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.
He was born May 4, 1949 in Greenville to Joseph and Zula (Castiglione) DiFede. Joe was a 1968 graduate of Greenville High School and served in the United States Navy from 1969 – 1973. He retired as a salesman from The Home Depot, Hermitage in 2016 and previously had been employed as a car salesman at Phil Godfrey Ford for 11 years. Following his retirement, Joe worked part-time as a delivery driver for William J’s Emporium for five years.
Joe was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Fitzmartin Council #1446. He volunteered at the Greenville Senior Community Center, enjoyed woodworking, and was known as a “jack of all trades.” Joe also was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On June 13, 1970, he married the former Kathleen Kaiser; she survives.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by two sons: Joseph L. DiFede, III. and James C. (Beth) DiFede, all of Greenville; four grandchildren: James (Maggie) Grinnell, Anthony DiFede, Layla King, and Logan DiFede; one great-grandchild, Declan Grinnell; his mother-in law, Margie Kaiser and two sisters-in law, Jeanette (Tom) Matthews and Tina Coulter, all of Las Vegas, NV; two nieces, two nephews, and a great-niece.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Rose Marie DiFede.
Services:
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 PM on Wed., 12/4/24, in the chapel of St. Michael’s Cemetery, 85 N. High St., Greenville with Fr. Brandon Kleckner, Pastor of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, as Celebrant. Greenville VFW Honor Guard Post #3374 will render military honors at the conclusion of the Mass. Family and friends will be received on 12/4/24 in the chapel from 11 AM until time of Mass. Inurnment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Greenville Senior Community Center, 45 Alan Ave. Greenville, PA 16125 or St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St. Greenville, PA 16125.
