Joseph C. Biery, Sr., age 92, of W. Shenango Twp., Jamestown, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2026, in his residence.
He was born in Jamestown on September 17, 1933 to Glenn Ayers Biery, Sr. and Anna Geraldine (Steele) Biery. Joe graduated from Jamestown High School and served in the U. S. Army from 1953 – 1955. He was a self-employed contractor and owned and operated Biery Excavating while working at Westinghouse before he went to work at South Shenango Township as road master where he retired in January of 2020 at the age of 86.
Joe was a member of Jamestown VFW Post # 5424 and served on the Jamestown Fair Board. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and a dog lover. Joe loved to work with his hands and did woodworking. His creations are staples in his family’s and friends’ homes. Joe also had a craft for gardening and will be remembered for his humor and making friends wherever he went.
On July 1, 1982, he married the former Earleen Mowry; she survives.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by four children: Joni Biery Prugh, Joseph (Susan) Biery, Jr., Michael Biery, and Madolyn (Robert) Gingell; five grandchildren: Randi J. Prugh, Aaron Biery, Reef Gingell, Thomas Biery, and Neve Gingell; two great-granddaughters, Mabel and Tillie; two stepdaughters, Cynthia (George) Heim and Paulla (Chuck) Johnson; four step-grandchildren: Sarah Heim, Brock Johnson, Brandon Johnson, and Brittany (Bill) Zakovec; three step-great-grandchildren: Piper, Savannah, and Nash; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Carla J. Prugh; and five siblings: Glenn A. Biery, Jr., Naomi Jean (Biery) Golsmith, Madolyn Anne (Biery) Fry, Doris Jane (Biery) Palmiter, and James Steele Biery.
Services:
Family and friends will be received from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, 5/15/26, in Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St. Jamestown. Private Burial with Military Honors rendered by Jamestown Honor Guard will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Strayhaven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Rd. Greenville, PA 16125.
