John L. Waid, Jr.

John L. Waid, Jr., age 85, of W. Fallowfield Twp., Adamsville, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in his residence.

He was born in Greenville on March 2, 1941 to John L. Waid, Sr. and Isaphene (Wright) Waid. John was a 1959 graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1960 – 1964. He retired from Salem Tube Corp. after 10 years of employment and had previously been employed for 20 years at the former Chicago Bridge & Iron Co.

John was a past member of the Jamestown Firemen’s Club, and he enjoyed hunting, watching NFL games, and playing cards with his friends and family.

On September 7, 1965, he married the former Janet R. Drader; she passed away July 20, 2023.

John is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Waid of Erie and LaRina (Joseph) Clark of Stafford, VA; a sister, Dona Drnek of Greenville; two grandchildren, MaRina Clark and Mitchell Clark, both of Stafford, VA; and three great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Burlan, and Bruce.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Peggy Cadman.

The Waid family wishes to thank the VA Home-Based Primary Care Team, Hospice of Crawford County, and his caregivers, Marge, Kim, and Charlene.

Services:

Per John’s wishes, Cremation was chosen, and no services will be held.
