Jeannette A. Ferguson, 73, of Greenville, passed away peacefully at home following a short battle with cancer.
She was born on December 7, 1952, in New Castle, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Parillo. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1971 and grew up attending Christian Assembly Church.
On May 1, 1976, she married Robert Lon “Lonnie” Ferguson. Together they shared a loving marriage that would have reached its 50th anniversary this May.
Jeannette worked alongside her father at Parillo Shoe Repair and continued the work even after his retirement. She later served for 20 years as the receptionist at Dr. McCrillis’s office, where she became a familiar and comforting presence to many families. Known especially for her kindness toward children, she made a lasting difference in the lives of many who passed through the office.
In 2001, Jeannette courageously battled and overcame breast cancer, a testament to her strength and determination.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with them, especially sharing meals together and cheering on her grandchildren at their many activities. Though she did not travel widely, she treasured special trips to Nashville to visit a cousin and to the Finger Lakes and Niagara Falls with her daughter’s family—memories she held dear.
Jeannette is survived by her beloved husband, Lonnie Ferguson; her son, Jason (Karen) Ferguson; her daughter, Wendy (Mike) Mallek; her cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Kaylynn, Caleb, Madison, and Landry; and her brother, Andrew Parillo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Anna Parillo, and her brother, Joe Parillo.
Jeannette will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength, and the love she gave so freely to her family and all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
