James L. Gessler, age 88, of Fredonia Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Monday morning, July 3, 2023. He was born in Dixonville, PA on October 25, 1934 to Germaine and Claire (Bradley) Gessler.

Jim attended St. Michael’s High School, where he was a member of both the basketball and football teams. He served in the U.S. Army and had worked for thirty-four years at the former Sharon Steel Plant. Jim was a faithful member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Fitzmartin Council #1446, B.P.O.E. #145, Greenville Family Moose #276 and was a former longtime member of the Greenville Lions Club. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking trips to the casinos, as well as watching and rooting for his Notre Dame Football Team and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.

On December 26, 1957 he married the former Annette L. Moroco, she passed away April 2, 1993, he then married Myrna Snyder she survives at home. Also surviving are his daughters, Nancy Gessler of Dedham, MA, Lynn Gessler of Lake Milton, OH and Lori Gilmore of Greenville; a step-son Rodney Snyder, two grandchildren, Lindsey Gilmore and Andrew Gilmore and two step-grandchildren Amy Snyder and Brett Snyder; his sister-in-law’s Rosie Gessler of Greenville and Rose Marie Gessler of Pittsburgh and Judy Moroco; brother-in-law’s John Moroco and his wife Nancy and Mike Moroco and his wife Connie as well as many nieces and nephews including his close friend and nephew, Tommy Gessler. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two sisters, Ethel Potase and Lois Metzger and three brothers, Bill Gessler, Tom Gessler and Ron Gessler.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 80 N. High St., Greenville, PA 16125. All arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
