Iris E. Spencer, age 90, of Greenville passed away peacefully with her family at her side Friday morning, June 13, 2025.
She was born in Greenville on January 13, 1935 to John and Odessa (Lynch) Kohler and attended Jamestown High School. Iris retired as a school bus driver from Anderson Coach & Travel following more than 60 years of employment.
She was a longtime member of First Church of God, Greenville where she taught Sunday School for many years and previously had served as Youth Leader and Church Custodian. Iris enjoyed gardening, knitting, and crocheting, and most of all, spending time with her family.
On December 9, 1950, she married William R. Spencer, Sr.; he passed away September 22, 2013.
Iris is survived by two daughters, Linda S. (Jeff) Mowry and Laurie A. (Kenneth) Saul, both of Greenville; two sons, William R. (Kathryn) Spencer, Jr. of Meadville and John G. (Jodi) Spencer of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma Alford; and three brothers: John Kohler, Ralph Kohler, and Ben Kohler.
Services:
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, 6/21/25, in First Church of God, 192 Vernon Rd., Greenville, with Rev. Kenneth Saul, son-in-law of the deceased, officiating. Inurnment will be in Rocky Glen Cemetery, Adamsville. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Church of God, 192 Vernon Rd. Greenville, PA 16125.
