Herman John Hesson, age 82, of Greenville passed away Tuesday evening, October 28, 2025, in St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.
He was born in Tampa, FL on September 14, 1943 to the late Howard and Edna (Pletcher) Hesson of Owensdale, PA.
As a boy, John resided and grew up in Owensdale with his parents where he met and married his childhood sweetheart, the former Kay Eiford, on December 20, 1963. The couple then moved to Greenville, PA where they lived until they found their dream home, a cottage on Pymatuning Lake. John and Kay spent many hours transforming the cottage into the family home.
John was employed as a fleet mechanic by Halls Motor Freight, Cooper and Jarret Trucking, Sloan Supply, and Sidley Concrete where he retired.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and watching sports. John also enjoyed all things mechanical and various home improvement projects.
Before moving to Reedsdale, PA, John was a member of the Jamestown Lions Club and a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church.
He most recently resided at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community, Greenville with his wife Kay who survives.
Also surviving are a son John Hesson and his wife Karen Hetrick Hesson of Cresson, PA; a daughter, Kelly Hesson Linzenbold and her husband Brian of Transfer; a sister Charlotte Hesson of Connellsville, PA; a granddaughter Melissa Hesson Schultz and her husband Brett of Columbus, OH; a great-grandson Brock; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Don and Karl Hesson.

A Prayer Service will be held at 2:45 PM Saturday, 11/8/25, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville, with Chaplain Pat Spears, Spiritual Director of St. Paul’s Senior Living Community, officiating. Family and friends will be received in the Funeral Home on Saturday, 11/8/25, from 1:00 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Benevolent Fund 339 E. Jamestown Rd. Greenville, PA 16125.
