Helga G. Marguglio

Helga G. Marguglio, age 99, died Tuesday evening, April 14, 2026 at St. Paul’s Retirement Community, Greenville, PA, where she had been a resident for 14 years.

Mrs. Marguglio was born January 31, 1927 in Grebenstein, Germany to Dr. Heinrich and Anne Amelung Zimmermann.

Helga obtained her abitur (high school diploma) from the college preparatory school in Hofgeismar. She worked as a dental assistant in the office of her father after graduating from high school.

During the occupation of Germany in late 1944, Helga met the man who would become her husband. A 20-piece USO band took over the entire second floor of Helga’s home and the piano player’s name was Vincent Marguglio. The courtship went on through correspondence for the next 7 years and Helga came to America in 1951. The wedding was February 23, 1952.

Helga worked as a housekeeper for a Greenville surgeon’s family for many years before retiring.

Surviving are her son George Marguglio (Maureen) of Gettysburg, PA and one brother-in-law Dante Marguglio (Diane) of Woodbury, NJ.

Preceding Helga in death were her husband Vincent, her son Anthony, her only brother Georg Zimmermann and his wife Gerlinde and their son Jorg (in Germany), her brothers-in-law Eugene and Carmen and their spouses Elizabeth and Cecelia, her sister-in-law Bianca Regina and numerous cousins both in Germany and the United States.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of St. Paul’s Retirement Community for the many years of care and also to Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care.

Services:

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, 4/20/26, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville with Rev. Dennis A. Blauser officiating. Family and friends will be received in the Roth Library of the Church on 4/20/26 from 9:30 – 10:45 AM. Inurnment will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City. Memorial Contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 Trinity Pl. Greenville, PA 16125.
