Glenn L. “Sam” Ferguson, age 83, of Hermitage passed away Tuesday morning, August 26, 2025, in UPMC Jameson.
He was born December 3, 1941 in Greenville, a son of James L. and Irma Jean (Hatton) Ferguson. Sam attended Greenville High School and was employed by Greenville Bowling Center during his teen years. From 1963 to 1985 he was employed by Greenville Steel Car Co. and from 1986 to 2000 by Trinity Industries. Sam then was employed by Pennsylvania Rail Car, Mercer, PA, from 2003 to 2023.
He was a member of Greenville Family Moose #276 and Greenville VFW Post #3374. Sam enjoyed building street rods and was a founding member of Rinky Dink Cruisers. He also enjoyed building things around his home and spending time with his wife in their street rods.
On July 1, 1967, Sam married the former Barbara Joan Calhoun who passed away February 5, 1995.
Sam is survived by his second wife, the former Linda A. Allen, whom he married December 20, 1996; a brother, Jim Ferguson; two sisters, Charla (Frank) Vanderslice and Lucy Potase, all of Greenville; a sister-in-law Linda Ferguson of Greenville; three nieces; three nephews; and a stepdaughter, Tanya M. Allen and step-grandson Alexander Hennon, both of Imperial, PA.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Ferguson.
Services:
All services will be held privately. Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ryan Blaney Family Foundation P. O. Box 1875 Concord, NC 28026.
