Gerald A. “Sandy” Sanderson, age 86, of Greenville passed away peacefully Monday evening, July 7, 2025, in UPMC Jameson.
He was born in Peoria, IL on March 7, 1939 to Loynal A. and Geraldine (Eibeck) Sanderson. Sandy served in the United States Army from 1956-1961, attaining the rank of E-4. He was employed at Greenville Steel Car for 11 years, at General American, Hubbard, OH for seven years, and also had been employed as a bus driver for Jamestown Schools for more than 30 years. In addition, he was the founder and operator of S & S Lures.
Sandy was a member of AMVETS and the Jamestown Honor Guard. He also was a founding member of the country rock band “Silver Spurs” in which he played bass guitar and sang. Sandy was passionate about his music, hunting, and fishing, but most of all, his family. He would say, “That was my biggest accomplishment.”
He leaves behind his high school sweetheart Rita, of 71 years; a daughter, Dawn (David) Shacklock; two grandchildren, Kayla (Garrett) Emery and Ethan (Victoria) Shacklock; and three beautiful great-grandchildren: Jackson, Chloe, and Levi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Toni; a son, Mark; a sister, Sherry; and a brother, Larry.
Services:
A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, 7/11/25, in Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St. Jamestown, with Rev. Chris Goldinger of Shepherd of the Valley Church, Sharpsville, PA officiating. Jamestown Honor Guard will render Military Honors at the conclusion of the service. Family and friends will be received in the Funeral Home on 7/11/25 from 3:00 PM until time of service. As a result of allergy concerns, the family requests that no flowers are sent.
