Gaynell R. Ashley, age 86, of Jamestown passed away Monday morning, July 21, 2025, in UPMC Horizon Greenville.
She was born in Greenville on July 25, 1938 to Joseph and Helen (Fahl) Minetti. Gaynell was a 1955 graduate of Jamestown High School and then completed Cosmetology School. She was employed as an Instructor of Cosmetology in Sharon and also owned and operated a salon in Jamestown.
Gaynell was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, Jamestown, where she previously served as President of St. Margaret’s Guild. She also had been a member of the former Jamestown Chamber of Commerce. Gaynell enjoyed reading, playing solitaire, and taking care of her home.
On February 15, 1958, she married William E. Ashley; he survives.
In addition to her husband, Gaynell is survived by two daughters, Theresa Clippenger of Woodlands, TX and Catherine Unger of Houston, TX; two sons, William J. Ashley of Jamestown and Michael B. (Dana) Ashley of Fairview; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Carl V. Minetti.
Services:
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, 7/24/25, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM in Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services 416 Liberty St. Jamestown. A Private Funeral Service will follow the visitation with Deacon Frank Luciani officiating. Inurnment will be in the Columbarium of St. Michael’s Cemetery, Greenville. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Margaret Catholic Church 701 Denver St. Jamestown, PA 16134.
