Gary J. Haverdick, age 75, of Hempfield Ave., Greenville passed away Friday afternoon, June 27, 2025, in UPMC Jameson.

He was born in Greenville on January 7, 1950 to Frank and Mary (Millero) Haverdick. Gary attended St. Michael’s School and was a 1967 graduate of Reynolds High School. He served in the Vietnam War in the U. S. Army 25th Infantry Division, 1st Aviation Brigade from 1969 – 1971. Gary retired following 27 years of employment in the maintenance department of the U. S. Postal Service in New Castle and Sharon and previously had been employed in the blacksmith shop of Greenville Steel Car for 18 years.

He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Fitzmartin Council #1446. Gary also was a member of Greenville VFW Post #3374 where he served as an officer and with the Honor Guard. He also served as an officer with the Italian Home Club, Greenville and had been a member of the former Conneaut Lake Park Volunteer Fire Dept. Station #5. Gary loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching sports.

Gary is survived by his fiancé, Sharon Labonoski of Greenville; two sisters, Carla (Dale) Myers of Greenville, and Jeana (Mark) Havidich-Herron of Nashville, TN; a brother, Frank Haverdick, Jr. and his longtime companion, Karen Kollar, of Greenville; a brother-in-law, Carl Kerekes of Jamestown; and a daughter, Laurel Redman of TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Maria Kerekes.

Services:

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, 7/2/25, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St., Greenville with Fr. Brandon Kleckner, Pastor of the Church, as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, 7/2/25, from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville. Commital Prayers and Military Honors rendered by Greenville VFW Post #3374 will be held following the Mass in the Chapel of St. Michael’s Cemetery. Inurnment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Greenville VFW Post #3374, 54 Conneaut Lake Rd. Greenville, PA 16125.
