Gary A. Bothun, Sr., age 75, of Greenville passed away peacefully in his residence with his family at his side on Sunday morning, December 7, 2025.
He was born in Lanesboro, MN on December 26, 1949 to Arden and Lois (Amdahl) Bothun. Gary graduated from Greenville High School. Prior to becoming disabled, he had been employed by the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad as a Car Shop Supervisor.
Gary was a member of B. P. O. E. #145, Greenville. He was a long-time baseball coach in the Greenville Little League and Senior League divisions, where he coached his teams to numerous championships and was well-known for calling his famous “squeeze play.”
Gary is survived by his wife, the former Carole D. (Lienard) McAdoo; a daughter, Callie Bothun of Mercer; a son, Gary A. Bothun, Jr. of St. Mary’s, PA ; two stepdaughters, Molly (Eric) Ferguson of Sharpsville and Mandy ( Steve) Ayers of Mars, PA; a sister, Betty K. Junk of Greenville; and a brother, James (Brenda) Bothun of New Bern, NC; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tye Bothun; and three sisters, Jackie Lewis, Sharon Northcott, and Patty Fattman.
Services:
Per Gary’s wishes, Cremation was chosen, and no services will be held. Inurnment will be in Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Tye Bothun Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Greenville Area School District, 9 Donation Rd. Greenville, PA 16125.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville.
