Frederick G. Holzapfel

Frederick G. Holzapfel, age 83, of Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, May 6, 2026, in Avalon Springs, Mercer.

He was born in Greenville on June 10, 1942 to Fred K. and Rosemary (Hoovler) Holzapfel. Fred served in the U. S. Air Force as an Airman, Second Class. He retired as a machinist from the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad following 27 years of employment.

Fred was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville. He greatly enjoyed hunting.

On January 30, 1965, Fred married the former Dolores P. Peden; she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jeannie (Tom) Carey of Clarks Mills; a son, Rodney (Bonnie) Holzapfel of Kinsman, OH; two sisters, Priscilla Deter of Greenville and Carolyn Nelson of Mercer; a brother, Roy (Jessie) Holzapfel of Hadley; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Shawn Holzapfel; and two sisters, Pamela Ser and Theresa Holzapfel.

Services:

Per Fred’s wishes, Cremation was chosen, and no services will be held. Inurnment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
