Edgar R. "Ed" Camlin

August 18, 1940 — March 19, 2026

Greenville, PA

Edgar R. Camlin, age 85, of Hempfield Township, Greenville, PA, passed away from natural causes on March 19, 2026 at the Shenango on the Green home in New Wilmington, Pa.

Born at home on August 18, 1940, in Economy Township, Pa., he was the son of Edgar and Leona Camlin. He married Dorothy Jean Klesser Samsa on August 15, 1964. He later married Linda Jean Holman Camlin on July 20, 1991, who survives at home.

Ed began his working career as a youth, walking miles delivering newspapers to a large rural area. Always a hard worker, he did that job as well as working at a local nursery during summers when school was out.

He attended Ambridge High School in Ambridge, Pa., graduating in 1958. While at Ambridge High, Ed was a member of the marching band. A talented musician, Ed would carry his large horn case to JC Penney after school to work until they closed for the evening. He would then hitchhike home to practice music and complete school work. Following high school, Ed attended Robert Morris Junior College in Pittsburgh.

As an adult he worked at a variety of jobs. He was a production manager for AndyGard, a plastic factory near Cranberry Township, PA, until the business burned to the ground. He was then hired at McGinnis Plastic Company in Reynolds, Pa., requiring him to move his family north. For a time, he worked for the Bessemer Railroad Company in Greenville. His primary job for many years was working for Pennsylvania Power Company, from which he retired in 1998. Still not ready to stop working, he spent the next ten years working full-time construction with one of his best friends, Ron Hovis, in Ron’s company, Hovis Construction.

In his free time, Ed enjoyed photography, biking, kayaking, fishing and hiking with his brother, and traveling all around the US, taking fantastic photographs at our National Parks. He was a member of New Castle Camera Club in Hermitage, Pa. However, his great joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren, all sixteen of them.

Ed was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville for over 40 years, where he served first as a deacon, then later as an elder. He was so pleased that, as an elder, he was a part of the pulpit committee which identified and selected the church’s most recent senior pastor, David Dobi.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Michael (Karen) Camlin of Greensburg, Pa.; a daughter, Lori (Scott) Payne of Defiance, Mo.; a son, Aaron (Jonna) Camlin, of Medina, Ohio; a step-son, Joseph (Pamela) Onderko of New Wilmington, Pa.; and a step-daughter, Tracy (Kent) Moldovan, of Gilbert, Az. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren:

Emily (MJ) Musulin, Katelyn (Adam) Gaines, Elizabeth (Josh) Julian, Garrett (Gracie) Payne, Erin Onderko, Michael (Hannah) Camlin, Nickolas Moldovan, Delaney Moldovan, Lauren Onderko, Alison Onderko, Abigail Camlin, Alivia Camlin, and Asher Camlin, as well as three great-grandchildren: Isla Camlin, Grayson Musulin and Gemma Camlin Gaines. He is also survived by a sister, Martha Jane (Bill) Parasida of Ambridge, Pa., and a sister-in-law, Helen Camlin, of Ocala, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Leona Camlin, his brother, Bruce Camlin, and two grandsons, Joshua and Michael Onderko.
