Dorothy B. “Dot” Scobbie, age 97, of Liberty St. Jamestown passed away Wednesday morning, November 6, 2024, in Quality Life Services, Mercer.
She was born January 16, 1927 in Greenville to Samuel U. Grant, Jr. and Ella L. (Hunt) Grant.
Dot was a Homemaker and babysat out of her own home for many years. She a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church where she had been active with the Happy Hookers knitting group. Dot was an avid bowler, and she truly loved every child she ever met.
On November 26, 1948, she married John M. Scobbie; he passed away on November 15, 2015.
Dot is survived by two sons: John Scobbie, Jr. of Greenville and Ronald (Beth) Scobbie of Jamestown; a daughter, Suzanne (John) Cooper of Lowellville, OH; a brother, Ben (Marie) Grant of Meadville; a sister-in-law, Beverly Grant, of Jamestown; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters: Evelyn Scobbie, Martha Hawk, and Charlotte Connelly; four brothers: Samuel Grant III, William Grant, Adelbert Grant, and Floyd Grant; and a daughter-in-law, Dixie Scobbie
Services:
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM Monday, 11/11/24, in Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St. Jamestown, with Rev. Daniel Miller, Pastor of Jamestown United Methodist Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Monday, 11/11/24, from 12 PM until time of service. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Jamestown United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 245 Jamestown, PA 16134.
