Dorothy H. “Dottie” (Bayuk) Holiga, age 94, formerly of Transfer, passed away Monday evening, November 11, 2024, in The Lakes at Jefferson, Mercer.
She was born February 14, 1930 in Greenville to Mark and Mary (Rusnock) Bayuk and was a 1948 graduate of St. Michael’s High School. Dottie was a Homemaker who enjoyed dancing, Winston Cup Auto Racing, gardening, traveling, and baking.
She was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church and belonged to the Penn-Ohio Polka Pals Booster Club and the former Women of the Moose Chapter 1890, Greenville.
On February 3, 1951, Dottie married John Holiga, Jr. in the St. Michael’s Rectory; he passed away February 8, 2024.
She is survived by four sons: Edward Holiga of Farrell, Raymond (Sue) Holiga of Greenville, John T. (Barbie) Holiga of Jamestown, and Mark (Marianne) Holiga of Youngstown; two daughters: Lois (Larry) Bock of Concord Twp., OH and Lynne Holiga of Transfer; a brother, Ray Bayuk, of Greenville; a sister, Fran (Joe) Visniski, of Brookfield, OH; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Dottie is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: John Bayuk, Mark Bayuk, Frank Bayuk, Joe Bayuk, and Paul Bayuk; four sisters: Mary Gibbons, Ann Staynoff, Agnes Daverio, and Rita Snyder; a granddaughter, Krystal Gregg; a grandson, Danny Holiga; and a great-grandson, Zachary Holiga.
Services:
A Funeral Service will be held at 12 PM Friday, 11/15/24, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville, with Fr. Brandon Kleckner, Pastor of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Friday from 11 AM until time of service. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Michael’s School Endowment Fund, 85 N. High St. Greenville, PA 16125.
