Dorothea O. Resek, age 87, of Fredonia, passed away Monday morning, July 20, 2026.

She was born in Detroit, MI on October 5, 1938 to Joseph F. and Caroline M. (Smith) Travnikar. Dorothea was a graduate of St. Mary High School, Royal Oak, MI and St. Joseph Nursing School, Mt. Clemens, MI.

Dorothea was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville where she volunteered in the Rectory, sang in the choir, served as a greeter, assisted with funeral dinners, and had been the original co-chair of the cookie committee. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and neighbors’ and friends’ children. Dorothea also loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and musical events and was an avid Pittsburgh and Detroit sports fan.

On August 11, 1962, Dorothea married Peter P. Resek; he passed away January 13, 2003.

She is survived by four daughters: Caroline (Eric) Rupp of Wellsboro, PA, Theresa (Dale) Hoovler of Fredonia, Marian Resek (John Peyton) of Greenville, and Jeanine Resek of Fredonia; two sons, Peter R. (Krista) Resek of Fredonia and Frank A. Resek of Mechanicsburg, PA; a brother, Frank Travnikar of Clarkston, MI; and eight grandchildren: Brian Rupp, Rachel Rupp and her fiancé Eric LaLomia, Nicholas Hoovler, Caroline Hoovler, Casey Resek, Aiden Resek, Katherine Resek, and Joseph Resek.

In addition to her husband, Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Jozlin and Carolyn Hunt; and two brothers, Joseph Travnikar and Rev. Fr. Rock Travnikar.

Services:

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, 7/27/26, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St. Greenville, PA 16125, with Fr. Raymond Gramata as Celebrant. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 5:00 PM on Sunday, 7/26/26, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville. Burial with Committal Prayers will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church.
