David Wesley McClain, 73, of Spring St. Jamestown, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 2, 2025.
David was born on April 26, 1952, in Canton, OH, to Earnest and Wanda (Raines) McClain.
As an 11-year-old child, David trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. This decision was the first in a lifelong pursuit to follow the Lord’s will for his life, resulting in his surrender to preach the Word of God as a teenager and a lifetime of ministry.
After graduating in 1970 from Perry High School in Massillon, OH, David studied for the ministry at Arlington Baptist College in Arlington, TX, until transferring to the Massillon Baptist College in Massillon, OH, from which he graduated in the spring of 1974. He continued his education throughout his life, earning both a master’s degree and doctorate degree from Christian Bible College.
David pastored churches in several states for over 30 years. He was used by the Lord to start new churches and to stabilize and strengthen struggling churches. He was active in the Christian school movement as well during those years. David’s love for his Savior was shared regularly in both his pastoral duties and his personal interactions. As a result, many people came to know Jesus as their personal Savior.
David enjoyed working and operating several businesses throughout his life in addition to his ministerial work.
David loved his family. He desired to see them saved and serving the Lord, and he spent much of his life trying to pass on Biblical principles to them. He was proud of his children and their accomplishments. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
David was loved by family and many friends and former church members. He will be deeply missed. Though he has concluded this earthly life with its many physical hardships and struggles, we rejoice knowing that, by God’s grace, he has received his heavenly home and glorified body.
David is survived by his wife Judy McClain; his son Jeremy (Jamie) McClain and their children Caroline (Isaiah) Powell, Hallie, Seth, Micah, and Alaina McClain; his daughter Julie Cohn and her son Mason Cohn; his daughter Melissa (Rick) Schworer and their children Kiera (Jeremiah) Hite, Lily, Charlotte, Silas, and Colton Schworer; his daughter Lindsey Hollifield and her children Izabelle, Riley, and Maci Hollifield; his brother Rick (Joann) McClain, sister Cindy Elam, and sister Lori Ridgeway.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Wanda McClain.
