Carol A. Palmer, age 79, of W. Salem Twp., Greenville, and formerly of Erie, passed away Monday morning, September 7, 2026, in Kadima Rehabilitation & Nursing at Greenville.
She was born in Erie on March 19, 1947 to Charles and Luretta (Kellog) Freebourn. Carol was a 1965 graduate of McDowell High School. She retired from the Policy Renewal Department at Erie Insurance following 35 years of employment.
Carol enjoyed crafting and artistic activities, playing the clarinet, and listening to music. She especially loved spending time with her family, her cat “Bixie,” and her granddogs.
Carol is survived by two daughters, Diane Palmer and her companion Paul Rust, Jr. of Greenville and Terri Palmer and her companion Jimmy Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX; a bonus daughter, Kimberley Smolinski of Waterford, PA; a bonus son, Billy Matalino of Mercer; a sister, Janet Russell and her companion John of Charleston, SC; a brother Lee (Cheryl) Freebourn of Youngstown, OH; three grandchildren: Lorie (Robert) Davis, Jon Palmer and his companion Pamela Buys, and Dalton Fredricks; and two great-grandchildren, Rory Palmer and Nancy Palmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; special aunt and uncle, Dee and Red Bowman; and cousins, Bobby Bowman and Cheryl Sheldon.
Services:
Per Carol’s wishes, Cremation was chosen, and no services will be held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville.
