Carol J. Merz

Carol J. Merz, age 81, of Overlook Dr., S. Shenango Twp., Jamestown, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2026.

She was born in Evans City, PA on August 29, 1944 to Russell L. Barkey, Sr. and Helen (Stirck) Barkey. Carol was a lifelong homemaker.

She was of the Catholic Faith. Carol was a member of Jamestown Fireman’s Club. She enjoyed taking care of her lawn and looking after her neighbors. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing horseshoes and always planted a garden.

On July 10, 1965, Carol married Jerome “Jerry” F. Merz; he passed away June 28, 2013.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Joe) Nuhfer of Jamestown and Lyn Merz of Linesville and two grandchildren, Sara (Antonio) Green and Briana Nuhfer.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Russ and Richie Barkey.

Services:

A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 PM on Saturday, 7/11/26, at her former residence, 1926 Overlook Dr., Jamestown.
