Betty K. Junk, age 81, of Donation Rd., Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, April 2, 2026, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville.
She was born in Wykoff, MN on January 27, 1945 to Arden J. and Lois (Amdahl) Bothun. Betty K was born in the midwife’s home, and a blizzard was expected, so she and her mother had to leave the midwife’s home early by horse and sleigh to avoid being snowed in.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as a communion assistant and usher. Betty K’s greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she enjoyed spending time with all of her family. Her interests included reading, crafting, and shopping with her sisters, daughters, and even some granddaughters. Betty K also enjoyed her class brunches and reunions.
On March 8, 1962, she married Frederick L. Junk in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with The Rev. Peter Brath officiating. Fred passed away July 18, 2025.
Betty K is survived by two sons, Darryl (Carol) Junk, of Greenville and David (Lana) Junk of Layton, UT; a daughter Cathryn “Cathy” (Ken) Anderson of Greenville; a brother, James (Brenda) Bothun of North Carolina; five grandchildren: Chad (Cara) Anderson, Ryan (Kayla) Junk, Brittany Junk, Erika (Gavin) Cregger, and Emily Junk; eight great-grandchildren, Mason, Milo, Nolan, Remy, Piper, Kenna, Gatlin, and Bowen; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her Minnesota family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Guerrini; her father, Arden Bothun; her step-father, Carl Guerrini; three sisters: Jacqueline B. Lewis, Sharon Slater Shardy Northcott, and Patty Fattman; a brother, Gary Bothun; a granddaughter, Chelsea Leigh Anderson; and a nephew, Tye Bothun.
Services:
A Private Memorial Service will be held in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville with Rev. Brenda Martin, Pastor of the Church, officiating. Inurnment will be in Mill Bank Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
