Bernard “Bernie” Gladysz, age 92, of Fredonia, passed away Friday afternoon, February 6, 2026, in Orchard Manor.
He was born in Sharon on May 18, 1933 to Stanley and Lillian (Woldarski) Gladysz. Bernie graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1950. He served in the U. S. Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Germany for 18 months prior to being honorably discharged as a Corporal. Bernie retired from Wheatland Tube Corp. in 1996 following 45 years of employment.
He was a faithful member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville. Bernie also was a life member of Reynolds VFW Post #7599, The Mercer County Antique Power Association, The Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club of Williamsfield, OH, The Northwest PA Steam Engine & Old Equipment Association of Portersville, PA, The Pioneer Steam & Gas Engine Society of Northwestern PA of Saegertown, PA, and the Harthegig Sportsman’s Club. He collected gas engines, Cub Cadet, Farmall, Minneapolis-Moline, John Deere, and Ford tractors. Bernie also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Michele (Mike) Meyer of Greenville; a brother, Stanley Gladysz of Greenville; two grandchildren, Marely and Maddox Meyer; and his companion of 17 years, Shirley Pompa of Grove City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cheri Ryan; two brothers, Eddie and Henry Gladysz; and a sister, Blanche Baron.
Services:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, 2/11/16, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St. Greenville PA 16125, with Fr. Thomas N. Trocchio, Pastor of the Church, as Celebrant. Military Honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the Mass. Entombment will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church.
