Barbara E. Runkel

Barbara E. Runkel, age 75, of Hempfield Twp., Greenville and formerly of Cochranton, passed away Sunday morning, June 21, 2026, in St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.

She was born in Greenville on March 23, 1951 to Harold L. and Marian A. (Porter) Eich. Barb graduated from Reynolds High School in 1969. She retired from the shipping department at R. D. Werner Co. following over 30 years of employment.

Barb was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Greenville where she served on the Church Council, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and served as a greeter. She also was a member of B. P. O. E. #219 of Meadville.

On May 7, 1983, Barb married Arthur W. Runkel in St. John’s Lutheran Church; he passed away April 19, 2018.

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Sherry (Chris) Maggio of Culpepper, VA and Greece; a stepson, Steve (Becky) Runkel of Davidson, NC; a sister, Jean Zane of Greenville; a brother, Terry (Pam) Eich of Orlando, FL; and seven step-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Barb was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Mike Runkel; and a sister, Shirley Dick.

Services:

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, 10/8/26, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 10 Beil Hill Rd. Greenville, PA 16125. The family invites all in attendance to join them for a luncheon in the Church Social Hall immediately following the service. Burial will be in Delaware Twp. Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
